“Everyone knows that Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a libertine”
Frank J. brings the funny on his blog: Puritanical America Doesn’t Like Rapists
First of all, Strauss-Kahn (why does a guy have a hyphenated name? And why, for that matter, is a guy named “Dominique”?) should just feel lucky he didn’t get shot in the head, because a lot of places in America if you try to rape someone, you will get shot in the head. And we’re proud of that. No one is going to say, “I’m appalled at you and your puritanical urge to shoot a rapist in the head!” Instead, everyone is going to say, “Good shooing. Got him right in the head. That’s the bin Laden special. Now let’s chuck him in the sea.” And you can say, “But I’m head of the IMF and am a leader of global significance!” but the bullet don’t care.
No less true for being hilarious. Nothing will wilt a rapist’s flower quite like a case of acute lead poisoning. Of course, this happened in New York City, where self-defense is discouraged as much as possible.
What got Frank riled up was this comment from one of Strauss-Kahn’s associates:
Gilles Savary, a member of the European Parliament who belongs to Mr. Strauss-Kahn’s Socialist Party, wrote on his blog that the arrest of Mr. Strauss-Kahn had hints of American-style hypocrisy. “Everyone knows that Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a libertine, and that he is distinguished from others by the fact that he doesn’t try and hide it,” he wrote. “In puritanical American [sic], infiltrated by rigorous Protestantism, financial misdeeds are far more tolerated than pleasures of the flesh.”
Socialist Party? Aren’t they the ones who are always telling us how they are there to stand up for the little people?
Get that? Bernard-Henri Levy is offended by the very notion that Strauss-Kahn is a subject of justice like any ordinary man. Funny how socialist intellectuals always talk and act like amoral autocrats. That’s what libertine means, by the way: a person who is morally or sexually unrestrained, especially a dissolute man.
French leftists must really be a whole other kind of animal. I am friends with, and related to, quite a number of American and Canadian leftists. Not a one of them would ever agree with this degenerate, let alone say something like Savary did.
Speaking of degenerates, Strauss-Kahn was denied bail thanks to Roman Polanski. The wheel turns, does it not?
